Ralph Ellis RIP
We at the FWA are heartbroken to hear the news that our dear friend Ralph Ellis passed away this weekend.
Ralph, who was a hardworking member of the FWA's National Committee, was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year at the age of 60. In typical style, Ralph battled the illness with determination, optimism and good humour, and only three months ago he cycled to Amsterdam to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.

St Mary’s report, July 2011
The Football Writers’ Association national committee is pleased report that following discussions with John Nagle at the Football League, Southampton have agreed to resume holding post-match conferences upstairs in their excellent former press room rather than in the players’ tunnel, which had become customary but unsatisfactory in the past few seasons. The club have also agreed to an FWA request that opposing managers are brought up separately rather than at the same time.Tags: national committee, press conference, southampton
Falmer Stadium Report, July 2011

The 22,376 capacity Amex Stadium boasts state of the art press facilities, as FWA national commitee members Brian Scovell and Tony Hudd discovered on a ...

Loftus Road report, June 2011
Brian Scovell and Christopher Davies were the Football Writers’ Association national committee representatives who visited Queens Park Rangers to see media officer Ian Taylor about their new press facilities. If all goes to plan the press box/press room/mixed zone will be excellent. As you will know, Loftus Road does not have too much space but they seem to be making the most of it.Tags: Brian Scovell, Christopher Davies, ground reports, national committee, press facilities
Brian Scovell Writes…
Over the years chairmen and committee members of the FWA have given advice to the 92 clubs about their press facilities. Around a third of them benefited, the last being Colchester which has proved to be a great success story. Three years ago we set up a Facilities sub Committee made up of myself, Tony Hudd and Jim Van Wijk and arising from an incident at Southend's Roots Hall - when a steward declined to give some our members a programme and a team sheet - I wrote to Lord Brian Mawhinney, the President of the Football League, and asked ...Tags: Brian Scovell, national committee
