Saint-Maximin voted North-East FWA Player of the Year

Allan Saint-Maximin is the North East Football Writers’ player of the year for 2021.

The Newcastle United forward narrowly beat team-mate Calum Wilson to the award voted by football journalists in the region. Middlesbrough’s Paddy McNair was third.
Durham Women’s Sarah Robson is the Women’s player of the year after denying her Championship team-mate Beth Hepple a second win of the award.

Howson and Hepple named NE Footballers of the Year

Jonny Howson has been named North-East Footballer of the Year for 2020 and Durham Women forward Beth Hepple has won the Women’s Player of the Year trophy.in the North-East Football Writers’ Association annual awards.

And to complete a notable double for Middlesbrough, his team-mate Marcus Tavernier has won the North-East Young Player of the Year award for 2020.

CHANGE OF DATE North East FWA Awards now February 23

The FWA's North-East awards night has been put back to Sunday February 23rd at the Ramside Hall in Durham.

Originally scheduled for Feb 2, it has been put back to allow for the attendance of our winners.

It is the North East branch's showpiece event of the year, featuring the region's Player of the Year, Women's Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year and many other awards.

Shearer leads North East FWA award-winners

Alan Shearer led a glittering line-up at the North East FWA's annual awards dinner, as the former Newcastle and England captain collected the region's Personality of the Year award, in association with the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

Shearer was one of many famous football faces at the Ramside Hall, Durham, for another great evening that was superbly organised as ever by Colin Young, secretary of the North East branch of the FWA.
