Membership

The FWA represents professional football writers and broadcasters whose earnings are primarily from covering football in England. As the oldest and most respected organisation of its kind, the FWA liaises regularly with clubs, federations and governing bodies, in a bid to improve facilities, access and relationships, and to represent the interests of our members.

We are always open to applications, either for Full Membership which is £30 per season, or Student Membership at £5 per season. Members are entitled to vote for the Footballer of the Year, raise issues and concerns with the FWA executive committee over press facilities and access, enjoy discounted tickets for our major events including the FOTY dinner, Savoy Tribute night and FWA Live events. Members also receive our annual handbook which contains contact details for FWA members, all 92 league clubs and the major football authorities.

Student membership applies to those who are studying sports or football reporting in all forms of media. Student members can vote for Footballer of the Year and will receive the FWA handbook which is an invaluable resource for budding journalists.  And we run a mentoring scheme with experienced journalists helping our student members.

For more information, or to apply for membership, please email John Ley, our membership secretary on statmanjon@aol.com

The FWA are committed to improving both press facilities and relationships with all football clubs throughout the divisions. If you have an issue you would like to raise,
